One of Norway's oldest and best preserved farmsteads

One of Norway's oldest and best preserved farmsteads from the 1800s is now an open-air museum.

Husantunet is located north of central Alvdal, between Glåma and Rørosbanen. A unique and protected farmstead comprising 18 different houses, all of which represent the typical building styles in North Østerdal from 1650 to 1850. The village is organised in two farmyards: an inner and outer farmyard, which was typical before 1850. Each house has its own function, residential house and washhouse close to the water source, while the outbuildings are located further north - with a hay barn for each species of animal. The farmyard has two houses, a summer and a winter dwelling.

The farmyard was protected in 1941, and was then restored before opening as a museum in 1958.
