1,666 metres above sea level stands Tronfjell - Alvdal’s biggest landmark.

Tronfjellveien, Norway's second-highest road takes you right to Tronfjell’s summit, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the seven parishes and beyond. Norkring’s radio and television transmitters are located on the summit, while Avinor has its own radar station there for monitoring airspace for air traffic and aviation.

The Indian philosopher Baral - Swami Sri Ananda Acharya is buried just below the summit. There is a marked trail from Flattron to Baral’s grave.
